Data on AB 34 programs throughout
the State are submitted to MHALA Outcomes and Research staff
on a monthly basis. The data evaluates these programs by examining
quality of life measures for a consumer before and after enrollment.
Front line staff compile a 12 month history of every consumer
that details their experience prior to enrollment. That information
serves as a baseline to which we can compare post enrollment
data that is collected and reported by frontline staff. The
comparison between prior and post enrollment data enables
us to gauge the effectiveness of AB 34 in lowering homeless
days, jail/prison episodes, and visits to hospitals. We are
also able to capture quality of life information by reporting
the number of days a consumer spends in housing, education
and employment.
Outcomes and Research staff at MHALA compile the monthly
data submitted by AB 34 programs into a cumulative, annualized,
and current data grid. Each grid reports the data for the
program's consumers who are currently enrolled through the
end of the month.
The cumulative grid aggregates the data from the program's
inception through the end of the current reporting period.
Prior months of data are added together to compile a running
total of the program's post enrollment data.
Though we have a 12 month baseline on every consumer, not
every individual is enrolled in the program for exactly one
year. To accurately compare a year of pre-enrollment with
a year of post enrollment data, we apply a correction factor
in the annualized grid (click
here for a detailed explanation).
Finally, the current grid reports the data for only the current
reporting period and not the months prior. |
